Allergy tests

July 14, 2006 – 3:01 pm

I went for a series of allergy tests yesterday, trying to get to the bottom of why I feel crappy during the Austin allergy season(s).

I fully expected Mountain Cedar, Mold, and Ragweed to show up, but alas, I am allergic to NOTHING AT ALL.

How can this be? I have to go back when I have symptoms and they’ll try to figure it all out.

If you’ve never had an allergy test, they look much worse than they actually are. They put 60 drops of different things that you could be allergic to on your arms and then break the skin under those drops. If you break out in hives or whatever, you are allergic to that substance.

I love this list of potential reactions to the test. I mean, who doesn’t live constantly with a sense of impending doom?
